Diverse Experiences in Real Estate

Berkeley Alumni as well as professionals from other alma maters packed the house for BREAA’s Diverse Experiences in Real Estate event on October 1st. The event featured an all-women panel of five respected leaders in commercial real estate representing distinct verticals in the industry including investment/ownership, leasing/tenant representation, affordable housing, development, and capital markets. Hosted in Cushman & Wakefield’s meeting space, guests mingled over drinks and appetizers before taking their seats to hear from the panelists. The panel covered topics ranging from definitions of diversity and why it is important to our industry; how to cultivate mentor relationships; actions that employers or individual contributors can take to encourage diversity; and work-life balance. The experiences the panelists shared and their authentic responses to important topics facing the industry encouraged an active and thought provoking discussion and question and answer session. Guests further networked and discussed diversity initiatives after the panel.

Special thanks to our amazing panelists:  Jean Snider, Alice Devine, Ann Silverberg, Yayu Lin, and Jean Baker and to our moderators:  Allie Stein and Briana Harney.

This event would not have been possible without the sponsorship of LoanCore and Cushman & Wakefield, and BREAA’s chapter sponsors:  Newmark Knight & Frank, Partner Engineering, Real Capital Analytics, and Panoramic Interests.
